Last Sunday saw the fund-raising bowls ‘match’, in aid of our local fire brigade. This annual event is run by Rye Bowls Club, with support from the Williams family.

The afternoon commenced with a minute of silence, in memory of Don Williams, who sadly died a few weeks ago. Don was an enthusiastic and long-serving member of the club, as well as a keen supporter of our fire brigade.

The afternoon, filled with much fun and quite a lot of banter, was enjoyed by the eight teams, families and supporters.

The weather held fair until the last end and, as normal, the afternoon concluded with an excellent barbecue provided by the Williams family.

Rye Bowls Club has been part of the local community since 1982, providing both an active club, while supporting other local activities, such as our fire brigade.

Anyone interested in giving lawn bowls a try, please telephone the club captain on 01797 280457 for more information and to arrange a time suited to you.
