High Street loading bay abused

A local businessman and owner of a dark grey Mercedes was spoken to by police this week after he had left his vehicle overnight in the loading bay in front of the George hotel, Rye. Still there at 11.45 am, it was causing traffic chaos, with no less than five white vans queuing at one stage in the High Street and up Lion Street. A local resident commented that the experimental loading bay scheme was brilliant when it worked, but it only needed one instance of anti-social behaviour to defeat its object.
