Rye Town’s final game of 2017 saw the team fight back from a 0-2 deficit against rivals Robertsbridge and sustain its unbeaten run which lasted for over a year.
Two goals within the first 10 minutes saw the visitors take a commanding lead and it looked very much like they would take the honours.  However, Town rallied  and replied in the 73rd minute with a goal from Luke Willis.
Ten minutes later came a debatable equaliser! A deflected own goal? Or was it man of the match Lewis Carpenter’s goal to claim?  It was given to the latter, but more importantly the preservation of this honourable unbeaten run was still intact as the club continue its pursuit of a return into Sussex League football.
The game sponsored by Graeme Campbell from Station Antiques  ended in a 2-2 draw and takes Town nicely into the new year when it will face Sedlescombe Rangers away on January 6.
The next home game at The Salts will be on January 13 versus Battle Baptists, kick off is at 2pm.  The game sponsor will be Tony Hailey Country Services Ltd & Log Deliverys. (sic)
A big well done to Rye Town FC for its performances so far, keep the momentum going and all the best for 2018.
