On October 14, last Tuesday afternoon, Melissa and her daughter discovered their chickens were missing from their garden after going to feed them after school at their property on Udimore Road in Broadland Row.
Melissa said: “We often went down and spent time with them. If it was a nice, sunny day we would sit with them and our little girl would go in with them and she liked to talk to them and stroke them as they were very friendly. We had to keep them in a run as we have frequent fox visitors, but we always moved it around so they had fresh ground. They aways seemed happy: we would give them plenty of enrichment, corn on the cob and things to peck at but their favourite things were blackberries.”

The run and chickens were stolen at around 1.30pm in broad daylight. There is CCTV evidence of this which has been passed on to the police. The coop was extremely heavy but the thieves managed to lift it over a fence with the chickens still in it.
Melissa added: “We had the chickens for five years and they were part of our lives; we feel lost without them. Our daughter has been very upset and confused about where they have gone to. It really has unsettled her. It has been an invasion of our privacy and we all feel sad about the whole situation. Our animals are extremely important to us and are part of our family.”
The family requires your help. “If anyone knows or has seen anything or gets offered chickens or a coop and feels suspicious, please let us know. We would love to get them back!” Contact them on 07807630333
