Kent Police are looking for witnesses after a fatal collision on the road between Rye and Appledore on Bank Holiday Monday.

At 3.30pm on Monday 4 May, a red and purple Triumph Speed Twin motorbike was travelling away from Rye in convoy with a group of riders on Military Road, when it left the carriageway on the offside and struck a hedgerow.

Emergency services attended and the motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was confirmed to have died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses should call Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 using the reference BN/JW/037/26.

Earlier in the afternoon the A259 was closed because of two accidents at East Guldeford. Both incidents occurred between the two level crossings just before midday.
