To celebrate the launch of the Rye Society of Artists’ (RSA) new website, Rye News continues to profile one of its artists each week – including links to its website and social media accounts so you can keep up-to-date with its activities.

Given the government’s most recent announcements on the lockdown, you may only be able to view some of the RSA member’s work online (if RAG can organise that) at their Spring Exhibition, entitled “There will be Growth in Spring”, at Rye Art Gallery from March 20  to May 1. In addition, the RSA will be hosting its 70th Anniversary Summer Show later in the year depending on progress with relaxing lockdown restrictions.

This week, the artist in focus is Denise Franklin.

Denise trained and studied in London and Newcastle and lives and works in Hastings Country Park.

Always inspired by the sensation of an encounter with the natural world, usually walking or swimming, Denise Franklin works in the studio where she endeavours to recreate the intensity of meditative walks or joyful moments of sublime wonder.

You can see more of Denise’s work on Instagram @denisefranklin6004 on her website www.denisefranklin.co.uk and also on the RSA website.
