There’s one last chance to see Bowler Crab’s Shakespeare show ‘Why Will?’, with an additional performance date scheduled by popular demand. This final Bowler Crab performance of 2021 will be at the Stables Theatre on Friday, November 19. Previously performed in the open air over a two-month period last summer, words such as “passionate” “insightful” “thrilling” and “unmissable” have been used to describe the show by previous attendees.

What is ‘Why Will?’ …..
Written by Stephen J John, Bowler Crab’s artistic director, the show is based on a cancelled performance that was to have celebrated the 600th anniversary of Rye’s Mermaid Inn last year. Developed further during the lockdown, Stephen performs as characters from Shakespeare’s finest works: from Hamlet to Benedick, Romeo to Bottom, Caesar to Jaques. Tragedy and comedy lace this charismatic and personal performance as Stephen fights, feasts, frights, fakes and falls about laughing in every effort to share his passion for Shakespeare, whilst postulating the importance of the Bard and raising the question “Why perform Shakespeare?”. The piece is shaped with other short questions previously sent in from fans and newsletter subscribers.

How long is the performance?
The performance is presented in two one-hour acts with a twenty minute interval.

How much are tickets and where can I buy them?
The tickets are £13.50 (for Stables Theatre members or under 18: £8.50). The tickets can be purchased on line via the Stables Theatre web site www.stablestheatre.co.uk or https://stablestheatre.ticketsolve.com/shows/873627720, or by phoning the theatre box office 01424 423221.

The rave reviews flooded in over the summer and if you haven’t seen the show yet, why not see what all the fuss is about? Stephen has confirmed this is the final public performance of this show, so don’t miss out!
