Decoupage scallop shells

Rye Castle Museum held a children’s craft afternoon on Thursday 19 February during half term. As it was coming up to Rye Bay Scallop week, the activity on offer was covering scallop shells with decoupage and the results were impressive.

Children could also try simple origami and making paper beads. Although it was a free activity, there was not a huge turnout but those that came along certainly enjoyed the afternoon.

The feedback was that the scallop shell decorating was brilliant and the children were totally absorbed in producing their creations. Thank you to the helpers for the afternoon.

The museum is planning on holding an adult craft session to decoupage scallop shells, aimed at members and volunteers. There has been interest already and a date is planned soon, before East Street re-opens after the winter closure.

The East Street site of Rye Castle Museum will be open at weekends from Saturday 4 April, volunteers permitting.

The museum always welcomes new members and volunteers so get in touch at info@ryemuseum.co.uk or call 01797 226728.
