Sunday 20 September sees a rousing classical music extravaganza in St Mary’s Church as part of the Rye Arts Festival, and there’s a couple of local names in the mix that you might just recognise.
As well as pieces by Britten, Albinoni and Hugo Wolf, Robert Draper, who is usually seen enthusiastically keeping the Ryebellion Drummers in check, and is in fact, a trained classical composer, will be having his piece, specifically composed for a string orchestra, Adagio in G minor, performed as part of the evening’s programme.
Local musician, Martin Bruce will be accompanying the ensemble of some of the area’s finest string players, conducted by Kenneth Roberts, for the magnificent Organ Concerto by Poulenc.
The organ in St Mary’s will have the stops pulled out to raise the roof for this performance, it’s certainly not one to be missed!
