Picture this, you’ve just enjoyed a wonderful concert at St Mary’s church having listened to Beverley Knight, Richard Thompson or Lucky Peterson. It’s about 10.15pm and you’re not quite ready to call it a day but you don’t fancy going to a pub or hotel, so where else is there?

The unmissable Earl Okin

For the August bank holiday weekend there is a new venue in town, the Devil in Rye restaurant is hosting its own very special jazz suppers on Saturday and Sunday August 24 and 25, and in addition, lat- night jazz from 10.30pm to 1am.

This is not some sleazy back street ‘speak easy’ or karaoke bar but an opportunity to combine fine dining with superb music in an award winning High Street venue.

The Iain Rae Trio

From 7pm there are two very special nights of top-class entertainment in an intimate setting overlooking the ancient monastery and on Saturday featuring none other than Lianne Carroll and her husband Roger Carey – outstanding local artists with a worldwide following and reputation.

On Sunday Earl Okin is wowing us with a night of cabaret with his singular, sophisticated vocals and humour which has made Earl one of the leading music and comedy acts on the circuit, this one is a ‘must see’ experience.

The Terry Seabrook Trio

Tickets for the late-night Jazz (10.30pm to 1am) are £15 and if you are available earlier in the evening, multiple-award-winning executive chef Dev Biswal will be serving up Jazz Suppers on Saturday featuring the Iain Rae Trio and on Sunday featuring Terry Seabrook Jazz Trio from 7pm.
