Films showing at the Rye Kino from Friday June 26 include :

Jurassic World (2D) & (3D) [12A] 124 mins 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce Jurassic World, the long-awaited next installment of his ground-breaking series. Isla Nublar is now a fully-functioning dinosaur theme park. But, after ten years of operation and with visitor rates declining, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitors’ interest, with disastrous consequences. Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan and Omar Sy.

West [15] 102 mins subtitled  East Germany. Summer, late 70’s. Three years after her boyfriend Wassilij’s apparent death, Nelly Senff decides to escape from behind the Berlin wall with her son Alexej, leaving her traumatic memories and past behind. Pretending to marry a West German, she crosses the border to start a new life in the West. But soon her past starts to haunt her as the Allied Secret Service begin to question Wassilij’s mysterious disappearance. Plagued by her past and fraught with paranoia, Nelly is forced to choose between discovering the truth about her former lover and her hopes for a better tomorrow. Starring Jördis Triebel.

Danny Collins 107 mins [15]  Inspired by a true story, Al Pacino stars as Danny Collins, an ageing rock star who can’t give up his hard-living ways. But when his manager uncovers a 40-year-old undelivered letter written to him by John Lennon, Danny decides to change course and embark on a heartfelt journey to rediscover his family and himself. From the writer of Last Vegas and Crazy, Stupid, Love, this wonderfully funny film stars Al Pacino, Jennifer Garner, Annette Bening, Bobby Cannavale and Christopher Plummer.

Mr Holmes [PG] 104 mins  In 1947, the long-retired Sherlock Holmes lives in a remote Sussex farmhouse tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Dealing with the deterioration of his once incredible mind, Holmes is haunted by a case from decades prior: an unsolved mystery that forced him into retirement. Inspired by the enthusiastic Roger, Holmes is determined to crack one final mystery. Partially filmed at Winchelsea, Mr Holmes stars Ian McKellen, Laura Linney, Milo Parker, Roger Allam, Frances de la Tour and Colin Starkey

Spy [15] 120 mins  Melissa McCarthy is Susan Cooper, an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner falls off the grid and another top agent is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster. From the director of Bridesmaids, also starring Rose Byrne, Jude Law and Jason Statham.
