Local poet at Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey is the grand setting for a reading of poems by Jonty Driver, who lives at Mill Corner, Northiam (Jane Nunn writes). The poems, entitled Requiem, will be read by Canon Chris Chivers, the seven sections interspersed with excerpts from Bach’s Cello Suite No 1, played by Brian O’Kane. As the introduction by Canon Chivers will say: “Driver explores a recurring dream at the dawn of day in which many of those who have died and meant much to him present themselves as an on-going presence. From this dream Driver charts a journey which is a requiem for them and which spans generations past and present in such a way as to invite us to consider the role that memories of the people in our lives play for us individually and corporately.” The reading is at the evening service (6.30pm) at Westminster Abbey on November 2.
