Antonio makes his case

After the longest tour Bowler Crab have undertaken since starting in 2013, the Shakespeare specialists embark on their final weekend. Their best selling tour, The Merchant of Venice, has taken the troupe to theatres, 600-year-old inns, fringe spaces, converted cinemas and even churches across Sussex, Kent and London.
This weekend on Sunday July 29, for one final performance, the team return to their exclusive outdoor home venue, Half House Farm in Three Oaks. The 16th-century yeoman’s farmhouse built in 1575 acts as the backdrop to their gorgeous outdoor stage.
Bowler Crab’s artistic director, Stephen John, had this to say: “The worry with combining our usual winter tour route with our exclusive performances at the farm was that the majority of audiences might pick the indoor stage set-ups over our usual outdoor productions. It was a risk, particularly when stretching the tour across a two-month period; however, the hard work and the gamble have paid off and, not only have we had record sales at the farm, but our indoor venues have ensured this productions has been our biggest seller by far! Bowler Crab have discovered our new means of spreading Shakespeare and fully intend to expand the summer tour greater every year from now on.”
The final performance will be on Sunday June 29, commencing at 3pm at Half House Farm, Three Oaks, TN35 4NE; tickets are £15 available from www.bowler-crab.com or 07801893115. Bring your own chairs (or hay bales provided as alternative) – gates will open one hour before performance, there will be a licensed marquee and tickets available to purchase on the door.
