The Mermaid Inn provided the perfect backdrop to a stylish, sophisticated and thrilling murder mystery play on Friday, June 20. Rye Players, dressed to kill in more ways than one, were superbly directed by Pat Driver.

Pat explains: “Tickets for Blue Murder at Bluestone Hall by Cheryl Barrett sold out very quickly and the audience certainly represented our vibrant creative community. Writers, musicians, artists and general fun-lovers competed to solve the mystery of ‘whodunnit’, first prize going to the Old Fallopians, (a team hastily assembled in Rye Fine Wines). Over £600 was raised for the cause, the renovation of the Rye Players’ rehearsal hut and so work can now begin on some essential repairs.

“For Rye Players, it’s now heads down to prepare the next production, Murder Aforesaid by Andrew Mayor. This very moving play depicts the trial for murder of John Breads and asks some important questions about justice. Tickets will go on sale soon via the Rye Arts Festival.”
