Panto dame causes havoc! (Oh yes she did!)

Rye Theatre Panto Dame caused havoc at last weekend’s Rye Christmas Festival event: “I just couldn’t stop being so excited,” said Dame Dolly. “What with the Town Crier, the arrival of Father Christmas, and the huge crowds all gathering round to see the commotion, it was something very special and although icy cold, all the fun warmed us up.”

Dame Dolly (alias veteran Panto professional Julius Brady) says she was also offering her beauty tips to local residents as she prepares for her role in this year’s Rye Theatre spectacular, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. “I can’t wait,” said Dame Dolly. “Rye audiences are always great, tickets are selling fast, and I was thrilled when they invited me to help Goldilocks sort out the Evil Ringmaster and find the lost Bears. As you will see from my latest pictures at the Festival weekend, I have been able to make myself look at least 20 years younger, and without the need of a safety net!”

Local producer, Chris Gidney, says he is thrilled with a quality professional cast and crew assembled this year which also includes Britain’s Got Talent star Peter Lambert: “Panto is the time of year when the whole family can come together for some festive fun. We are thrilled to be providing Rye with its very own professional pantomime, and with free parking, an exciting new adventure, value prices and even a new bar installed at the theatre, what more do you need to come and celebrate locally with the family this season?”
