On Saturday, January 30 I was tempted out of Rye to go and listen to Roger Hubbard, our own brilliant guitarist, at the Kino-Teatr in St Leonards where he launched his new CD.

“If I had a dollar” is available in Rye from Grammar School Records in the High Street in CD aportrait1nd 180gm. vinyl format.

After playing a well received acoustic solo set, Roger introduced the other musicians on the album.

Bruce Allen of ‘Intensified’ fame joined on percussion, playing washboard, along with Richard Studholme, singer and guitarist from the Blue Devils, Eric Bibb onĀ the accordion, and Jim Leverton with his bass guitar.

Abnd, if that wasn’t enough of a wonderful line up, Andy Newmark from the USA joined on drums.

To much applause, the full band played untilĀ 11pm and had to do an encore because the audience would not let them go. Everyone enjoyed a great evening.

While waiting with anticipation for Roger Hubbard, we were entertained by the trio “The aftershave” with Simon Charterton, singer and song writer, John Pope who plays bass, and Robert Rosenthal on electric violin.

It was very enjoyable and they are playing on February 9 at The Star, Alfriston, at 8pm with free admission.
