The latest show from local drama group Acting Up in Rye was performed at Rye Community Centre last week.  Starting All Over is a light comedy by John Peel, containing some good character parts with fine acting, notably from Sarah Givertz as an unlikely Home Office forensic scientist. If the pace was rather slow, that was the short-coming of the script and not of the actors, who all filled their roles with an obvious enjoyment that reached out to the audience. Rowena Sterry both directed and acted in the play, appearing in her own idiosyncratic style as “the lady who cleans”. Acting Up’s next production will be in July, with audition dates to be announced soon.
