On July 14, an audience of fifty or more people cheered and clapped as five young singers performed a wonderful selection of Stephen Sondheim songs at the Rye Creative Centre Theatre Space, writes Gillian Roder. The concert, A Celebration of Sondheim, in aid of local charity ARRCC, was a roaring success, with singing and overall performance of a very high standard.

Led by Sam Williams, Theatre and Events Manager for ARRCC, Aimee Carney, Marcus Jones, Jasmine Alice and Shannon Sims performed from hits from shows like West Side Story, Sweeney Todd and Company, to name but a few.

The performers are all recent graduates or students of music, theatre and the performing arts. Jasmine Alice made her West End debut this year and more will be heard of the others, so keep your eyes open for all those names! No less important to the production were Luke French and Sam Clarke, on sound and lights respectively.

Future ARRCC  events are on the website, www.arrcc.org.uk and the Rye Creative Centre website is www.ryecreativecentre.co.uk
