Something to start the weekend

The Globe Inn on the Marsh continued its excellent Thursday night live music sessions with Sean Fennessey & Friends on Thursday June 1. The act is described by Sean as ‘two of us, a microphone and a beaten up old guitar, singing songs about late nights and all the best of all our bad decisions’ – a perfect complement to the atmospheric interior of the Globe.

Sean, a local Kent musician and a regular live performer in the Rye and Hastings area, performed a stripped-back acoustic set from 7:30pm and this followed on from an excellent performance last Thursday (May 25) by soloist Jamie Smart.

Jamie, a local lad from Hastings, sang a mixture of cover songs and his own compositions, some of which he recently performed on BBC local radio’s Introducing the South, a showcase of fresh new acts from Sussex and Surrey.

The Globe Inn on the Marsh on Military Road is one of three ‘ramblinns’ in the area, the other two being the Woolpack Inn in Warehorne and Five Bells Inn in Brabourne. The summer challenge to set yourself, is to have breakfast at one, lunch in another and to finally dine at the third – travelling between the three on foot across the marsh.
