Rye Arts Festival is presenting a special celebration of music from the 1920s and 1930s. Singer, songwriter and pianist Kate Garner and her band will perform Songs from the Art Deco Decades at 7.30pm on November 2nd at The Milligan Theatre.

With songs from the supercharged 1920s and sophisticated 1930s musical styles, the audience is being encouraged to come dressed for the Great Gatsby era, although there is no imperative to get into a flap about it and there is no dress code.

The show has already been successfully performed in London and as an additional treat for the Rye audience, Kate will also be performing original songs from “Mapp & Lucia Ë— The Musical”.

Kate is a hugely talented artiste, with a life-long passion for EF Benson and his characters, The musical is currently being prepared for launch in 2020 and the evening provides a great sneak preview of an exciting project

Kate is the daughter of the late Chas Hodges of Chas and Dave fame, although her musical style is a long way removed from the songs like Rabbit and Gertcha that put her dad squarely on the musical map.

Kate sings at the piano with a fabulously authentic line up of drums, double bass and alto sax/clarinet, and her musicians have a great pedigree, having performed with many big name artists, including Bryan Ferry and The Pasadena Roof Orchestra. Together, Kate and her band celebrate the classic songs of the 1920s and 1930s, a cocktail of Gatsby fun and elegance.
