Top blues man hits town

After the success of the Hotfoot Specials benefit gig for the Rye Community Centre, it’s time to tell you about the next event in the series, again generously sponsored by the George Hotel in Rye.

On Saturday June 11, we welcome the legendary Dave Kelly who you may know as the slide guitarist and vocalist in the Blues Band, who appeared at the Rye Jazz Festival last year. Dave also performs on a regular basis with fellow Blue Band front man, Paul Jones, but this is a rare opportunity to see him perform solo in an intimate setting. Dave has recently worked with the likes of Maggie Bell and Christine Collister and in the past has worked with blues giants Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Son House and others.

Doors open at 7:30 pm for an 8pm start. Tickets are available from Grammar School Records in the High Street (01797 222752) or on the door, and cost £12 each. Tickets for children under 13 will cost £6. As usual there will be a fully licensed bar with all profits going to benefit the Community Centre.
