We are just over a week away from the return of our festival and things are feeling as festive as ever in Rye. With the Christmas lights hung and twinkling all over the high street, shops beginning to display their Christmas goodies and the tree appearing on the Strand Quay (kindly donated by Martello Developments and Littledown Christmas Tree Farm), Rye is ready for the festive season.
It’s no secret that this year is the five-year anniversary for the Rye Christmas Festival, and the committee are super excited to share the big day with everyone, seeing the year’s worth of planning come to life.
This year, the committee have seen such a great response from visitors and locals on social media, with many sharing photos of the lights making Rye sparkle, and sharing their excitement for the upcoming festival. This week, we thought to help you get extra excited we’d share with you some of the fun…
To help get you ready for the big day, why not pick up an official event guide? Now available at selected shops around Rye and digitally on the Rye Christmas Festival website, this guide is jam-packed full of festival news and really breaks down the day and activities to help you make the most out of the fun. For £1 the guide can be yours today.
Also available on the website is a very exciting raffle! This year, festival-goers will be able to have a unique ride around Rye in the wonderful horse and cart. This leisurely trot around the town will allow you to take in the sights and save your legs on a wonderful Victorian ride – very fitting for this year’s theme! The horse and cart is available throughout the day, seating six, but there is also a way you can take the ride to the next level… This year, you have the chance to ride in the annual procession on the horse and cart. Simply purchase a raffle ticket on the Christmas Festival website and be entered for a chance to win this ride like no other.
Of course, the horse and cart ride isn’t the only thing you can enjoy on the day. Visit Father Christmas, watch this year’s pantomime, take incredible photos in the snow globe, enjoy live performances around town and so much more.
You can get a full run down on the day in this years official guide…or if you fancy a festive surprise, why not head to Rye on Saturday, December 7 for a magical day like no other.
