Time to get swapping

It’s the first Recycle Swap Shop of the year this weekend at the Tilling Green Community Centre.

Doors open on Saturday 28 February between 9.30am and 11.30am, but if you have things to swap, you need to bring them before 10.30am.

A spokesperson for organisers Transition Rye said, “Please focus on bringing things that people are likely to take. Don’t bring things that are broken, dirty or dangerous. No mains electricals either.”

If you have bulky items, like bikes or furniture, then please don’t bring these to the swap shop. These items are better posted on Rye Freegle, which helps you get in touch with someone who wants them and can collect them.

You don’t necessarily need to bring along things to swap. “We’re very happy for people to come and just take stuff away – in fact we need people to do this or there’s too much left over at the end.”

The event is free, but donations towards running costs (about £60) are welcome.
