This popular event which auctions Promises, Antiques and Miscellaneous Items will be held at the Mermaid Inn’s Tudor Room on Thursday May 24, with viewing from 7 pm and the sale at 7:30pm.
Tickets will be £5 which will include a glass of wine and catalogue.
Some great items have been donated, including prints by highly regarded and sought-after artist (and our Vice President) Rostislav Romanov and two rare original drawings by “Captain Pugwash” John Ryan (see above).
Other goodies available on the night include a unicycle, a boat trip around Rye Bay, paddle boarding, a floppy hat, a wool spinning lesson, and not forgetting the chance to bid for the honour of being Rye Fawkes for the night and be paraded down to the Salts with the chance of a lifetime to light the “Normous Bonfire” on the night.
Rye & District Bonfire Society would like to thank the Mermaid Inn for its continued support in hosting the Society’s annual Auction of Promises to raise funds for this year’s Bonfire Celebrations and everybody who has donated such wonderful items.
Our next event is our regular Quiz Night on June 6 at the Pipemakers Arms in Rye (details to follow). Please could members bring a bottle for the raffle to our next meeting on May 9.
