Lawfully married

It’s been some time that I have been to a wedding and this one was outstanding. April 20, 4pm the Town Hall was packed with  friends and family of Julie Catt and Phil Law. Eventually there was only standing room which was also soon occupied. While we waited for them to arrive, live music filled the room, performed by Reg Marchant, Steve Stone and later Jamie Stuart.

Camera’s clicking as the pair made their entrance, Julie was in a cream dress, looking beautiful and Phil in tails, beard trimmed and tidied, looking the gent, not ever seen before (not by me at least, since I have known him), both looking very happy. Vows were taken, the book signed and rings exchanged as well as a beautiful poem was read about life together. The town Cryer was doing his duty shouting pleasantries  about the happy wedding while leading them  out into the street where people waited for more photo-opportunities.

A train of guests wandered through the Rye streets to the Globe where more fun awaited us. We were treated to a glass of bubbly and continued with wine which was displayed on the tables for us to help ourselves. The food laid out was a feast – well done the Globe staff. The atmosphere was buzzing and if that was not enough we were treated to more music from the musicians who had entertained us earlier, plus Louis Turpin and of course our best piano Blues Player Phil Law, himself. People obviously enjoyed the ambiance in the Globe as  most hung out way past 10pm tasting the sweet platters brought out at some point.

Julie and Philip, may the future bring you sunshine. Thank you for inviting us all, and showing such generosity to friends and family, being able to share this very special and very enjoyable day.
