Reports due

Two important reports into housing in Rye are being discussed next week. Rother District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee meets on Monday, June 2.

The agenda includes the final report on the council’s local housing development strategy and the recommendations of a committee that has been looking into the effects of AirBnBs in Rye, Winchelsea and Camber.

Flood work

Work on Military Road

More investigation work into flooding on Military Road in Rye will mean roadworks in early June. Temporary lights will be in place between 9:30 am and 4pm from Monday to Wednesday June 2-4.

A spokesperson for East Sussex Highways says the work will be carried out by Balfour Beatty. “We will soon be carrying out drainage investigations in Military Road, Rye, to help alleviate flooding. These works involve a CCTV surveys of the underground drainage system and using high-pressured water to clear the pipework.”

Time to talk

There’s a chance to discuss anti-social behaviour in Rye this weekend – and to hear from some of the groups and organisations trying to find a solution. It takes places at Tilling Green Community Centre this Saturday, May 31 between 10:30am and 12:30pm.

As well as the police, representatives from Tilling Green Residents Association, Rye Youth Zone, Southern Housing, Rother District Council and Rye Chamber of Commerce are expected to attended, along with youth workers.
