As we reported last week, Cinque Ports Street in Rye was closed for emergency gas repairs. Unexpectedly the road was reopened before the Easter break. Tony Roi isn’t impressed.
In order to address a gas problem, SGN dug up and made repairs in Cinque Ports Street, leaving a good road repair. Okay so far but did they have to leave repair equipment blocking the road all over the long Easter weekend?
Many ‘Road Closed’ and ‘Diversion’ signs were also all over the town. It looks as if some local people have got fed up with the disruption and moved the SGN equipment to the side to allow traffic to pass thus opening the road to people in the know. SGN needs a slap on the wrist for unnecessarily disrupting the town of Rye all over the holiday season.
Cinque Ports Street fully opened on Tuesday April 2 and all the road signs removed. SGN have been approached for comment

The road was not opened before the Easter weekend.
There’s still a large diversion sign at the bottom of Landgate.
