More on Palestine talk

We recently published a preview of a talk by a local resident of her tour of the West Bank, to be given at St Mary’s Centre, Lion Street on Saturday, March 2.

Readers interested in the peace process in the Middle East will probably be aware of the Oslo Accord, signed in 1993 by representatives of the PLO, Israel and the United States. This agreement provided for an interim form of self-government for the Palestinian State and the recognition of the State of Israel. The mutual recognition pact was accepted in principle by Israel and Fatah but rejected by Hamas. It is not yet known whether the speaker will discuss the outcome of this, but it is certainly an area with scope for debate.
