The Rye Singers have been presenting concerts and shows for over 55 years. This weekend there’s a chance to enjoy Rye’s town choir in concert at the Baptist Church.
The singers, who were once appointed Mayor’s Minstrels by Jo Kirkham when she was Mayor of Rye, have performed all kinds of music. They have travelled at home and abroad, won prestigious competitions and combined with other choirs to perform large works such as the Berlioz Requiem, Mahler’s Symphony and Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony.
This weekend’s concert celebrates the rediscovery of JS Bach’s St Matthew Passion by Felix Mendelssohn after many years in 1829 in Berlin.
So do come along to Rye Baptist Church on Saturday 18 July at 7.30pm to enjoy music by both of these stunning composers.
If you do feel you might enjoy singing with this amazing group, please contact lesleybrownbill@hotmail.co.uk or any choir member.
