A very generous donation

Rother Responders, our local team of Community First Responders (CFR), are delighted to have received the generous donation of a Raizer lifting chair from Hailsham-based charity Medi Tech Trust.

Lifting chairs enable a single first responder to safely lift a fallen patient from the floor to a comfortable seated position in a matter of minutes. Both the patient and CFR are protected from injury, and the use of the chair offers a dignified experience for a patient who has fallen but does not require ongoing medical treatment from an ambulance crew.

Raizer Chair

In a presentation evening at Uckfield Civic Centre on 14 July, representatives from 10 of South East Coast Ambulance Service’s CFR groups (of which Rother Responders is one) were presented with a framed certificate and Raizer chair by Andrew Blackman CStJ, Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex.

He said, “I was delighted to present Raizer chairs to 10 Community First Responder Groups from across East Sussex on behalf of fabulous local charity Medi Tech Trust. My particular thanks go to Medi Tech founders Graham Watson and Bob Lewis. These chairs represent a simple and practical way to improve patient outcomes and will be of immediate and long-term benefit to hundreds of local people.”

Speaking about the gift, Tracy Pepler, team leader of Rother Responders said, “We are incredibly grateful to the Medi Tech Trust for this generous donation. The chairs can make a real difference to the safety, dignity and wellbeing of any patient who has fallen and cannot get up themselves – but particularly elderly and vulnerable patients.”
