Step aside London, move over Paris, New York, and Milan…
Last Thursday evening, 26 February, The Mermaid Inn was the place to be and be seen, as a selection of Ryebellion Drummers and friends strutted their stuff on the catwalk.
A fabulous array of outfits, expertly put together by Sandra Clark of the Funky Hen Secret Boutique, showcased stunning fashion for all ages, shapes and sizes. Arabella Ansar was the brilliant host, keeping the evening on track and the audience entertained.

Ladies present were also offered the opportunity to discuss their correct, or as more often is the case, incorrect bra size and fitting with Emma, the bra-ologist. The bonfire fundraising team said, “It was a real bonus to have her at this event.”
The Tudor Room was filled with joy and laughter, and there was even a belly dancer! Another absolute success from Rye Bonfire Society’s fundraising females!
The team wish to thank everyone involved for making it such a great evening.

They were excited to announce that just under £600 was raised, and added that the Valentine’s Quiz, held on 18 February, won on home turf by the Mermaid team, with Councillor and Mayor Andy Stuart and the lady Mayoress Nikki, as quiz masters, raised £350, getting 2026 off to a good start.
They can’t rest up yet though: there’s a lot of fundraising still to do to ensure this year’s bonfire event, once again, lights up Rye.

Tickets are now available from Adams in the High Street, for the Bonfire Society’s next fundraiser, a live action race night at Tilling Green Community Centre on Saturday 14 March.
Rumour has it that the mayor is one of the “jockeys”.
The ladies are also already planning for the Rye Bonfire Society Grand Auction on Wednesday 3 June. If any businesses would like to donate an item or service please get in touch with the team by email, funding@ryebonfire.co.uk
