A new community initiative has been launched at Rye Lawn Tennis Club with club coach, Mark Edwards, delivering weekly tennis sessions to the Year 4 class of Rye Community Primary School for the rest of the term. Sponsored by The George, this will give local children, many of whom may never have played tennis, the opportunity to learn to play.

Giving both adults and children the chance to experience the facilities on offer, the club is holding an Open Day for both members and non-members on 27 June.

In the morning there will be free coaching and taster sessions for tennis and padel for both children and adults, bookable in advance. Also, in the afternoon, is a padel exhibition match and a mixed doubles tennis tournament (bookable in advance), an opportunity to try out the club’s world class grass courts. Entrance fees for the tournament are £10 for non-members and it is free for members. Players are encouraged to book in pairs, but the club can help individuals to join up into a pair. The club dress code on the grass is predominantly white with no trainers

For those who would like to try their hand at archery, they can turn up and have a go for free, in the Poole Field with the club’s experienced coaches.

Timings and booking information can be found here.
