Rye Bonfire Night may be on 14 November, but there’s plenty going on this spring to raise funds.

This weekend, there is a fête on Easter Saturday 4 April at Tilling Green Community Centre and, amongst others, Rye Bonfire Society will have a stall, with a tombola, bonfire merchandise and second hand books. Please pop along to support this great community event.

Following on from that, there is another bonfire quiz night at the Mermaid Inn on Wednesday 6 May. Keep an eye on social media nearer the time for details.

The spring shenanigans will continue with the Bonfire Society social, on bank holiday Monday 25 May at the Cinque Ports pub. Bonfire Society members will be on hand to showcase their torch making skills, Ryebellion Drummers will be kicking the party off, Sarah G and the other 3 will be providing fabulous music, plus there’s going to be a waffle van! What’s not to love about that for a fun afternoon? The Bonfire Society explained that entry to the party is free and open to everyone, the more the merrier, however, any donations would be most welcome and they hope to see you there!

Matt Parsons, a Rye Bonfire Society member will be cycling from Lewes to Rye (that’s a long way) too, on that date and is planning to arrive at the Cinque Ports pub during the party. You can sponsor Matt by donating directly to the bonfire society crowd funder and later in the summer, Neale East will be cycling his usual Romney Marsh roam, more details to follow.
