School may be out for the summer but at St Michael’s Hospice Shop on Cinque Ports Street the pre-loved school uniform shop is open for business.
The uniform shop has been running for four years now and has helped many families with school uniform throughout that time.
This year Rye College parents are leading the way with donations of their children’s uniform and collections have been made from Rye Primary on their last day of term so we have lots of uniform ready for the shop floor.
The shop doesn’t just accept uniform from the Rye schools, the team have been building their stocks from the surrounding areas and are more than happy to accept uniform from all over Rother.
We are incredibly proud to be able to help more and more parents get their children ready for September at bargain prices whist saving many clothes going to landfill. As a parent myself with children in primary school and secondary school I know just how expensive this time of year can be. Although our uniform is pre-loved we check it all and make sure it is in good condition before it reaches the shop floor. This year we have a dedicated volunteer who will be on hand restocking not just the uniform but also our fabulous toy room! We truly believe every child should be able to walk through the school gates feeling confident and looking smart every day and that we hope we are able to give families the opportunity to choose the sustainable and budget friendly way to get ready for September.
When donating to St Michael’s Hospice shop whether it be uniform or you’ve had a big clear out over the summer please consider signing up to Gift Aid to make your donation go even further. As long as you are a UK tax payer you can sign up in store, it takes about five minutes and the charity can then claim back 25p in every £1 from the government.
