Sunset Singers’ sing-song

Shoppers in the High Street were serenaded on Saturday (December 13) by a collection of carols and hymns from the Sunset Singers, writes Tony McLaughlin. Even though many of them are in their eighties, the singers braved the weather and gave a rousing performance to passers by, many of whom joined in. Liz Gange, who organises the troupe, was delighted that in just half an hour the singers raised £155 for Out in Rother, an organisation that helps those with dementia and Alzheimer’s, and their carers. Gange is most grateful to Ian Foster of Adams Stationers, who allows the singers to use the shop’s forecourt each year. The choir next performs on Friday December 19 at the William the Conqueror pub in Rye Harbour, from 7.30pm. And on Christmas Eve, to get everyone into a festive mood, it will be in the marquee at the Gallivant hotel in Camber, from 6.30pm.
