Twenty years of walking

More than 70 people took part in the Rotary Club of Rye and Winchelsea’s 20th annual sponsored walk on Sunday May 20.
There were two routes and your Rye News reporter took the longer 10-mile walk. This was mostly off-road over unspoiled farmland with some spectacular views across the Weald. The walk took in the views from Cadborough Cliff and bridle paths crossing the valley of the River Tillingham past Wick Farm and Pelsham.
Timely refreshments were provided at the new catering facilities at Peasmarsh Church and the final stretch back to Rye was along the High Weald Landscape Trail.
While the sponsorship money has yet to be counted, the organisers confirmed that this annual walk, and the annual sponsored cycle ride in September each year, are the Rotary Club’s most popular fundraisers.
