Rye’s experimental loading bay in the High Street came into force on Friday February 6, writes Tony Nunn. It means goods vehicles have sole access to the bay overnight between 11pm and 3pm Monday to Saturday; at other times any vehicle can use the bay for loading or unloading. But use, in all cases, is restricted to 10 minutes. “Parking is never allowed in this bay,” says Rye’s mayor Bernadine Fiddimore. “It can only ever be used for loading or unloading and only for 10 minutes. It is really important that we get this across. Equally, the small bay outside the George Grill is restricted to 10 minutes only 24/7.”
