Patrols by police in Rye’s citadel continue to be higher profile, writes Nick Taylor. Last weekend [November 29-30] officers were seen issuing tickets – and advisory notices to blue badge holders – to vehicles parking around the narrow turn from the top of East Street into Market Street. This area is one of several “pinch points” in the town centre including the turn from Hilders Cliff into the High Street and the bases of East and West Streets where goods, service and emergency vehicles can easily become stuck because of illegally parked vehicles.
