Time to talk at Tilling Green

Worries about delays to repairs to housing on Tilling Green are likely to dominate a meeting for residents next month. It will take place at the community centre between 1-4pm on Tuesday, August 12 and has been organised by the estate’s landlords Southern Housing.
The company says it is bringing teams from several of its departments to talk with residents: repairs, anti-social behaviour, estate services and housing support. Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue will also be in attendance.
The Tilling Green Residents Association has been pushing for the meeting says chair Dan Lake. “I hope it will help improve people’s lives as its far easier to discuss problems face to face rather than by phone or email. It’s much easier to explain things and you can see how seriously your concerns are being taken.”
The event will be a similar format to the recent anti-social behaviour meeting at the centre, with tables set aside for conversations rather than formal presentations.
This community meeting with Southern Housing comes eight months after the state of their homes in Tilling Green and elsewhere in Rye was widely reported in the media.

  1. Unfortunate Day & Timing.
Those who are working will need to take time off, Appreciate a weekend meeting would be logistically difficult, but a meeting between 5 and 8 would hopefully have encouraged more
Southern Housing Tenants to be able to attend ?

That said, the need for a very necessary meeting is being recognised by Southern Housing.
