Marc Bourne, managing director of Heritage Decorating, had some very exciting news this week. “We are incredibly proud to share that we have been officially recognised by the Guild of Master Craftsmen. It’s an absolute honour to be accepted into such a prestigious and long-established organisation – one that has upheld the highest standards of craftsmanship across the UK for generations. I am very proud of our team for dedicating themselves 100%, all of the time and striving for perfection on every job. “

Heritage Decorating was founded in December 2023 and has quickly become a trusted choice for both domestic and commercial clients. The business is based in Rye, East Sussex, but its reputation has extended into Kent, Surrey, and even London.

In such a short time the enterprise has built up a client-base that is to be envied. The reason for this success is that the craftspeople care about every individual client and go the extra mile. Marc and his team will not leave until the job is perfect. This ethos has put them in the spotlight and this recognition from The Guild of Master Craftsmen is well deserved.

Marc explains: “Heritage Decorating was born in late 2023, following a private job I completed alongside my son and daughter. Working together sparked a real lightbulb moment — we made a great team, and it planted the seed of something bigger. I wanted to build something lasting, something meaningful. Not just a business, but a legacy for my children — a trusted, reliable decorating firm built on strong values and high standards.

“Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength. Much of our success is thanks to wonderful customers who have put their trust in us. At the heart of what we do is our simple promise: to treat every job and every client with love, care, and attention to detail. That’s more than just a tagline for us — it’s how we work every day. We love our craft, we genuinely care about our customers, and we pride ourselves on the level of detail we bring to every project.

“Our team has now grown to six skilled decorators, each one handpicked for passion, professionalism, and good character. Every member of Heritage Decorating is polite, respectful, and genuinely committed to achieving the best possible results for our clients. We take the time to build relationships with the people we work for, which is reflected in our glowing reviews, strong word-of-mouth, and repeat bookings. We never consider a job finished until the customer is 100% satisfied.

“At our core, we’re a family — and we treat our customers like an extension of that family. We look forward to many more years of doing what we love, meeting new people, and creating spaces that bring joy and pride to those who live in them.”

Marc is keen to support the local community and pay back the support he has received for his business by the locals. He was approached by a Rye Harbour resident who was organising an exciting art installation in the bus shelter there and needed it painted first. He offered to do it free of charge and he and a young apprentice set to and prepared it. The shelter is now home to a beautiful art installation that lifts the spirits of locals and visitors to the Harbour.

The Guild commented: “As verified Guild members, Heritage Decorating represents the highest standards in the trade. They are committed to the principles of quality, professionalism, and integrity that define Guild membership — and consistently go above and beyond for every client.

“Their work seamlessly blends time-honoured techniques with today’s best practices, setting a standard that other decorating firms aspire to reach.”
