5+2 Collective rings the changes

Come June, and it is art exhibition season. Clubs, galleries, collectives, individuals, open studios: you name it, all opening their doors to the public.

Most artists taking part in these events hope for a sale or two. That’s only natural. The greatest compliment for them is when someone else loves their work enough to buy a piece of their art. Such a buzz!

But it is not always about the selling. The 5+2 Collective, for example, is a group of local artists who like to get together a couple or three times a year to show their work, catch up with each other, enjoy the event and interact with the public, gaining valuable feedback and inspiration, influencing their future creations.

The usual 5 will be displaying their work, the +2 being two new faces, so expect a change in genre with something different to look at this time: digital art, a 21st century medium.

Even though you will see some 3-D art, this is not a craft fair. There will be pictures and prints, large and miniature at prices to suit all pockets, but paintings on small ‘objets’, too.

The 5+2 Collective looks forward to welcoming you at our 2nd exhibition this year, from 10am-5pm over the weekend of June 7 and 8 in the main hall at St. Mary’s Centre, Lion Street, Rye TN31 7LB.

  1. With a forecast of dire, wet and windy weather this weekend, what better way of passing a little time than to browse some art and chat to the artists! St. Mary’s Centre is nicely situated, in the courtyard off Lion Street, and next door to the Kino Cafe.
