Jane Beecham moved to Rye in 1994 and discovered a love of print making through an adult education class at Hastings College from 2002. Having achieved a BA Honours in graphic design at Leicester Polytechnic in film, animation and TV graphics she then worked freelance for various animation companies before becoming a creative director making TV and radio commercials for the music industry. Jane is a member of the Rye Society of Artists and South Coast Printmakers.
Regular trips to the coast at Pett Level and Dungeness inspire Jane where she uses what she finds on the beach including feathers which she dips in ink to make her drawings using many layers of ink to create intensity and depth. Inspired by ice entrapment, snow, the last strip of sun on the sea, rock pools and reflections.
Starting on Wednesday, February 19 through to Sunday, March 1 you can see and purchase her work at the ‘pop up’ open studio sale at the Red Door Gallery on Cinque Ports Street where there will be drawings, monotypes, cards and so much more available. A great opportunity to meet the artist and buy direct from her. Jane will be there every day, open Wednesday & Sunday noon- 4pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11am – 4pm and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
If you want to meet Jane from noon on Saturday 29, February she will join you with a glass of wine or if you fancy a cuppa and a chat that’s fine too and during the show there is also the opportunity to view four large pieces of her work, on display in The Fig Café on the High Street.
