There’s just time to see an interesting art show at the Hastings Arts Forum, 36 Marina, St Leonards on Sea, right opposite the Azur restaurant on the prom. It finishes on August 4 but is well worth a trip.

Lynne Bingham – Red City

Three very different artists are exhibiting. Lynne Bingham and Carly Ralph are two local artists working independently of each other, but whose practice in mixed media have one aspect in common. They both find inspiration in ‘second use’ objects and materials which they collect from sources of everyday life. The exhibition celebrates their differences of approach, though, one tending to figurative and the other to tactile qualities.

Jess Lavine

The third artist, Jess Lavine, showcases her mixed media collages  and abstract paintings. Her visual landscapes are rich in colour, texture and detail, light and surface decorations. The cards show the variety of her creativity in the paintings.

If you miss this show, the next one, from August 6-12 will showcase the work of Sara Lavelle, described in the brochure as a ‘rising talent winner’ . She has had several joint and solo shows this year, concentrating on portraiture and figuration. She was recently a finalist in the Sky Portrait of the Year Award 2019. This exhibition also includes ceramic works from Mahairi Lockett who draws her inspirations from a DIY ethos.
