Next weekend Saturday June 27 kicks off with “Oakfest Rye”, a music festival in aid of the Oliver Curd Trust, from noon to late on the A268 between Rye Foreign and Playden (no weekend roadworks promised), with live bands, a bouncy castle, food, beer tent and raffle. Entrance is a £2 minimum donation per person. Also on Saturday week in the New Hall at Winchelsea at 7pm, a Summer Soiree with a merry menu of musical cameos and light entertainment with Winchelsea Singers and surprise guests, plus bubbly on arrival, two course meal and coffee for £20, plus cash bar (reservations essential, 01797 223159).
