On Thursday November 14, Kino-Teatr, Norman Road, St Leonards presented a different way of highlighting the problems about climate change, its dangers to the planet and to the future of the next generation.

With optimism, humour, romance and talented singers the musical A Billion Ways took the audience on a journey that looks at the issues that must concern everyone across the globe.

Questions were posed like – why do anything when other countries increase polluting industry, and how best to lobby governments to legislate policies to reduce carbon which means looking at the broader picture of transport to minimize car travel.

The talented cast bow out

The father in the musical (an industrialist) and mother (a shopaholic) of one of the young women, could not quite understand her passion about the climate issue so the second half was mainly about educating them through song and humour.

She also talked about the flak she was getting because of the contradiction between being part of the rebellion with parents who actually are part of the problem.

The ending was very positive as the adults were able to listen and change. The father made his factory more green and the mother stopped shopping for its own sake and got involved in canvassing leaflets about climate change.

The cast’s last message was:”Everyone needs to get involved in saving the planet” and for the government the message was: “deeds not words.” For other events and films please go to: www.kino-teatr.co.uk
