Tongswood Chamber Choir is a small, friendly group based in and around East Sussex which aims to sing a wide-ranging repertoire of choral music to a high standard. The singers perform three to four concerts a year, raising money for local charities at venues such as Great Dixter, Scotney Castle and Westminster Abbey.
Their Christmas offering, under the title Music for Advent, will be at St Mary’s Parish Church, Rye, on December 3 at 6.30pm. This will be a selection of lovely Advent music including choral pieces by Bruckner, Lauridsen, Howells, Britten and Tchaikovsky, a candle-lit procession and a new piece by their own conductor, Martin Bruce. There will be opportunities for the audience to sing, as well as organ pieces by J. S. Bach and Louis-Claude Daquin.
Entry is free, there will be refreshments (paid for by donation) and the aim of the evening is to raise as much money as possible for Medical Life Lines, Ukraine. This organisation has already delivered thirty-three aid-filled ambulances to hospitals in war-torn areas of Ukraine since the 24 February 2022 invasion and your contribution will go towards funding another ambulance for that war-torn country.
Please do come!
