The Art of Great Dixter

Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the income for Great Dixter, the much visited historic house and gardens in Northiam, as it has for many local charities, so an online auction is being held from today, Friday, September 4, to Sunday, September 13 to help us to compensate for some of the loss which the charity’s Trust is facing.

An amazing mix of paintings, prints and objects have been donated by artists and makers connected to Great Dixter, many of them made especially for the event. The artists range from a Royal Academician to a student gardener. Artists include Richard Adams, Fred Cuming, Anny Evason, Fiona Gault, Howard Hodgkin, Charlotte Molesworth, Emma Tennant and Louis Turpin. All the artists and makers have a strong association with Great Dixter.

Although Great Dixter is first and foremost a place of horticultural learning, as an organisation we place a strong emphasis on inclusivity, community and outreach work.  This influences the staff appointments that we make, the volunteers that we work with, the students we train and the local initiatives we support.

Please join in or donate to the “Lockdown Fund” and help us to continue to look after a unique house and garden which provides exceptional horticultural training in a place that cares about plants and people.
