Last weekend Winchelsea was alive with the sound of music for the first time since lockdown began. On Saturday, September 19, four members of the Rye Bay Crew came to Winchelsea Church to entertain as full a house as the rules would allow. Rebekah Gilbert, Jonathan Breeds and Andi Rivett were accompanied by Anne Marshall and performed songs by Richard Rogers, Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Weill, Tom Lehrer and more.

Next up will be the resumption of the Winchelsea Arts programme. On Saturday, November 14 comes a recital by the Hastings Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Marcio da Silva. They will be performing four string pieces, including Elgar’s Serenade for Strings. To ensure maximum safety there will be 36 ticket zones in the church. Further details about concert arrangements can be found on the Arts website, winchelsea-arts.org.uk.
