After both serving the maximum term allowed, Rye and District Chamber of Commerce Chair, Jane Brook, and Vice-Chair, Sarah Broadbent, are standing down.
The Chamber’s constitution requires its leaders to be in place for no more than three years. Nominations for Chamber members to be part of its council closed on Thursday 5 February – the council needs a minimum of four elected councillors who will then appoint the chair and vice-chair.
The make up of the Rye Chamber will be decided on at the AGM taking place on Thursday 19 February.
Rye Chamber has played a major part in the development of the Rye Business Improvement District which local firms have been voting on. The result is due to be announced on Friday 13 February.
The Chamber AGM will also vote on a resolution to ensure a smooth transition, with the work required dependent on the outcome of the BID ballot.
The resolution proposes approving Jane Brook and Sarah Broadbent continue in “non-officer project-management roles to oversee either the BID transition (if approved) or the submission of the final report to Rother District Council (if not approved).”
