Bonfire auction of promises

Rye & District Bonfire Society’s Auction of Promises, Antiques and Miscellaneous Items will be held on Thursday, May 26 at the Tudor Room at the Mermaid Hotel at 7.30 p.m. Viewing from 7pm. Catalogues will be available on the night.

A huge range of services, art, antiques, memorabilia and worthy items will be on offer including two very rare original John Ryan prints, a painting by Rosti Romanoff, a Green Man carving, free use of Silver Room in Rye Kino for private event worth £300, a private Rye history or ghost walk tour by our town crier Paul Goring, an original framed painting by local wildlife artist James Tomlinson, an original photo print of Spike Milligan as Rye Fawkes, bottle of champagne signed by the prime minister, and 50 bags of decorative garden stone.

Other lots include water-sport lessons, overnight stays, a fly fishing experience, meals, afternoon tea, wine tasting, a case of fine wines, handcrafted jewellery, gift boxes, hampers and many other items and services kindly donated with grateful thanks by local individuals and businesses.

Not forgetting the honour of being chaired down to the Salts on the night and lighting the Bonfire as ‘Rye Fawkes’ 2022!

Tickets are £5 and include a glass of wine and a catalogue (card payments accepted).
